    About The Founder

    Wesley Roberts

My love for aviation started long before I ever created TheFlightApp. I have always been fascinated with the entire experience of flying, from watching aircraft take off to the excitement of stepping into an airport and beginning a new adventure. Even the small details, like hearing the clicking of suitcase wheels rolling across the terminal floor, remind me why I love traveling.

I was born in Tennessee and moved to Missouri when I was five years old, where I spent most of my early life. My interest in technology started at a young age when I became fascinated with computers and the possibilities they created. What started as curiosity grew into a passion for building websites, learning new technology, and creating digital experiences.

Before creating TheFlightApp, I built and launched several online projects across different industries. I created websites focused on sports analytics, developed tools for sports fans, and built a Tesla-focused website that allowed users to watch videos while charging their vehicles back when the feature was not natively supported. After growing these projects, I eventually sold them and began focusing on a project that combined two of my biggest passions: technology and aviation.

My journey toward aviation began even before joining the Navy. In 2022, I applied for a flight attendant position with a major airline and made it all the way to the final interview stage in Houston. After making it through multiple rounds of the hiring process and traveling for the interview, I received the email every future flight attendant dreads: “TBNT” (Thanks But No Thanks). While I did not get the opportunity I was hoping for at the time, that experience only strengthened my passion for the aviation industry and pushed me toward finding another way to be involved in the world of flight.

Later that year, I joined the United States Navy, beginning a new chapter in my life as an Aerographer’s Mate. I advanced through my career and became an Aerographer’s Mate Second Class (AG2). My role in the Navy focuses on meteorology and oceanography, providing critical weather information that supports operations, including aviation. Understanding the atmosphere and seeing firsthand how weather affects flight planning, safety, and operations has given me an even deeper appreciation for the science behind every journey.

My passion for travel has taken me across nearly all 50 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii, along with Puerto Rico and international destinations such as South Korea, Singapore, and the Philippines. After taking more than 100 flights, I found myself constantly switching between multiple apps just to track my flights, check airport information, monitor weather, and organize my travel experiences.

I wanted a better solution: one comprehensive app designed by someone who truly loves aviation.

    That vision became TheFlightApp.

TheFlightApp was created to bring together my experiences as a traveler, my background in technology, and my passion for aviation into one platform. Whether you are a frequent flyer, an aviation enthusiast, or someone taking their first flight, my goal is to make every trip more connected, informative, and enjoyable.

Every flight has a story behind it. TheFlightApp was built to help you capture yours.
